Miss Saigon Cast for the Film Adaptation

     Hold it right there!

This is not the official list of actors cast for the film adaptation of the musical, "Miss Saigon." Yeah, I know. Bummer.

But wait! As an avid- ARDENT fan of the musical, I have my own fantasies about who would give life to the characters, should it be filmed for the silver screen. And here is my (short) list. Are you ready? 'Cause I am ready! ♥

6. Tam
Tam is the son of Kim and Chris. Of course, the child- to be portrayed as a toddler- is Vietnamese- American. I don't have a particular actor in mind. It is a child, afterall. The important thing is that he should look like a halfie- with a 'Western nose', as described in the musical.

5. The Engineer
Appropriate casting for this character is really crucial. I don't have anyone in mind other than Jon Jon Briones, who played the character in the West End Revival. However, I think they should cast a halfie (which is difficult, to be honest) since Briones is purely Asian. Afterall, the Engineer is French- Vietnamese, and I heard most stage actors are not really good on screen. But I'm not talking about Briones. Just saying.

4. Ellen
Ellen is the wife of Chris. She is not an antagonist, as most fan would say.
I think they should cast an actress who is already known, who have starred in quite a few good film. Not an a-list actress, as she might overshadow Kim. Just a familiar face.

3. John Thomas/ John
John is Chris' bestfriend, also an American G.I. He plays an important role, and one of the most difficult- in terms of character, because he sees the pain of both Kim and her child, and the predicament of his friend Chris. Anyway... I also don't have a particular actor in mind, but I do hope they would cast a black actor. Not all Americans are white, afterall. This would be a good platform for diversity in cast, as they did in some revivals of the musical.

2. Christopher Scott/ Chris
OMG OMG OMG!!! So.... where should I start? Chris in an awfully important character because, Duh! He is the main male character, the love interest of Kim. I'm thinking of someone who is young, or who can transition as a young clueless G.I. to a grown man after having gone through the pain of losing the one he love because of war. This actor who is to play Chris should be handsome, charming, can sing (I go for a musical film adaptation), is an action star but also good at drama, and tall. I personally think he should be dark-haired, too. So who do I have in mind...?

Tadaaah!~ He is no other than the charming Grant Gustin! He is famous for portraying the character of Barry Allen/ The Flash! ♥

Why did I choose Grant? First off, I think he has all the qualities I am looking for Chris. Plus, Grant can sing and dance, too. And with The Flash, he has shown his potential to be an action star. I think he looks great for the character, too. Don't you agree? ♥

If he looks familiar to you, let it be known that he played as Sebastian Smythe in Glee. Sebastian is the lead singer for the Dalton Academy (Warblers) glee club, succeeding Blaine Anderson. Can he belt Chris' songs? Let's  see.

Anyway, enough about Grant as Chris. xD

Now, presenting to you- the most important character of all...

1. Kim
Kim is 17 year- old girl when the story started. She then transitioned into a woman 4 years later when she had her son with Chris. From an innocent girl forced intro prostitution to a loving mother who would do anything for her child, all eyes are on who will be cast as Kim. Just a short trivia: Lea Salonga was the original actress to play Kim, and she garnered not one, not two, but five prestigious Best Actress in a Musical award for portraying Kim: the Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle, Theatre World awards as well as the Laurence- Olivier and THE Tony Award. Truly an outstanding performance to have been given unanimous awards from different award-giving bodies. Bravo!
As the actress who would be fortunate enough to be cast as Kim and truly lucky to get to kiss Grant Gustin (let us hope he is cast as Chris), it is crucial that she is a really good actress, can sing, is pretty enough and Asian. She will surely be compared to Lea, that's for sure. So who should the actress be?

OKAY I HAVE TO ADMIT I REALLY REALLY REALLY, TRULY MADLY DEEPLY WANT TO PLAY AS KIM IN THE FILM ADAPTATION OF MISS SAIGON!

...I mean I can sing, I can use both my feet, not just my left, for dancing; I have once played the lead role in a musical during college, and my teacher/ the drama adviser thought I am a good actress, so we were told to stage the play during our University Days. What I'm trying to say is that I can act, and I'm pretty sure if given the chance I can play the role of Kim. I mean, my whole life I've been imagining playing that role and I have memorized every friggin' line of the libretto in my own style.

I know, how bold of me to parade myself. So what? It is my ultimate dream. I can dream, can't I? xD

Hello everyone, I am Hannah A. Butcon. I would like to audition as Kim. xD
Since I put myself forward, allow me to add a few more photos. Maybe then you'd be convinced... please? xD
"I'm seventeen and I'm new here, today. The village I come from seems so far away..."
Haha, tweetums photo, but can I pass as a 17 year old?

another photo of me with my colleague's daughter. Can I pass as a mom? I'm 25, after all. :D

So yeah, that ends my wish-list of who should be cast in the film adaptation of Miss Saigon. Before I end this, please also listen to me singing I'd Give My Life for You.

...who are the actors who made it to your dream cast? :)
