Simala Shrine

For people living in Visayas and Mindanao, have you ever seen some of your Facebook friends post photos of some tourist spot in Cebu which looks like a castle with its majestic architecture?

Yep, this is the place.

This is Simala Shrine. It is a favorite spot for curious travelers, pilgrims and Marian devotees alike. Located in Brgy. Simala in Sibonga, Cebu, it's about a 2-hour drive away from metro Cebu (without traffic).

Its architecture, unique on its own, is something we can be proud of. *que in music 'Hallelujah Chorus' from Handel's Messiah*

To get there from Metro Cebu, first you have to go to the South Terminal Bus via taxi. When you arrive at the terminal, go to Area 8, I think (I forgot) where the bus to Simala is going. The fare is just around Php 75.00 - Php 100.00

When you finally arrive at the crossing (it has a steel sign and near a bus waiting shed), you have to ride a habal-habal or single motorcycle. The fare is Php 40 per trike. From the crossing to the site, the ride will take about 10 minutes. Don't worry, the area going there has lots of houses, so don't fear being kidnapped ;D

This is the entrance. You won't have to pay entrance fee but you have to wear decent attire. For girls wearing shorts or mini skirts, you can rent a sarong for Php 20.00 from merchants standing at the gates of the shrine.
take note, visitors.
It was scorching during the time of our visit, so be sure to bring water and wear sunglasses and umbrella! And btw, CRs are hard to find >.<

brought my action cam and monopod 'cause you gotta Instagram it :D

I went with my mom and dad because my mom really wanted to visit the place. It so happened that they were praying the rosary (which was aired in the entire site). We waited until 12 noon for the mass.
